32 fan

Example winning hand
Winning tile: 2z

How All Terminals and Honors (混么九) works

Every set and the pair is made of terminal tiles (1s and 9s) or honor tiles (winds and dragons).

The hand combines outside tiles only — the 1 and 9 of the three suits together with wind and dragon honors — and because none of these can form runs, the structure is entirely pungs and a pair. It differs from pure All Terminals by allowing honors, and from a chow-bearing outside hand by forbidding any number tile from 2 through 8. Honor pungs of dragons or the prevailing/seat wind that appear may still carry their own small fan.

Good to know
  • Unlike All Terminals, honor tiles are permitted here; unlike a flush, multiple suits and honors mix freely.
  • No tile from 2 to 8 may appear, so every set is necessarily a pung or kong.
  • Dragon or relevant wind pungs within the hand can add their individual fan on top.

All Terminals and Honors (混么九) — FAQ

Does All Terminals and Honors allow any sequences?

No. Because it uses only terminals and honors, none of which sit in a numeric run, the hand is built entirely from pungs and a pair.

How does it relate to the Thirteen Orphans?

Both use only terminals and honors, but Thirteen Orphans needs one of each plus a duplicate, whereas this pattern groups those tiles into pungs and a pair.
