Heavenly Hand (天胡)
Heavenly Hand — the dealer wins on the initial 14-tile draw before any discards. Limit hand.
How Heavenly Hand (天胡) works
The dealer completes a winning hand immediately on the opening deal, before any tile is drawn or discarded.
Heavenly Hand occurs only for the dealer, whose initial 14 tiles already form a complete hand the moment the deal finishes. Because it requires no draws or discards, it is purely a matter of luck and cannot be played toward. Under Sichuan rules the hand still uses only the three number suits and must respect the voided-suit requirement, so the dealt tiles must already span just two of the three suits.
- •Exclusive to the dealer; the non-dealer equivalent of winning on the very first draw is a separate pattern, not this one.
- •Like every Sichuan hand it contains no honor, wind, or dragon tiles, and the player must already be void in one suit.
- •It is among the rarest outcomes in the game and typically does not stack with draw-timing fan since no draw takes place.
Heavenly Hand (天胡) — FAQ
Can a non-dealer score Heavenly Hand?
No. It is defined strictly for the dealer's dealt-in hand; a non-dealer winning on their first pick falls under a different pattern.
Does going void in one suit prevent Heavenly Hand?
No, but the dealt tiles must already cover only two suits, since the voided-suit rule applies even to a hand completed on the deal.
