Flower Series (花槓)
A complete set of the four seasons (春夏秋冬) or four plants (梅蘭竹菊) scores 2 tai for the series.
How Flower Series (花槓) works
Collecting a complete series of four flower tiles — all four seasons (春夏秋冬) or all four plants (梅蘭竹菊) — scores 2 tai for the series.
The eight flower tiles form two series of four. Completing either full series is called 花槓 and scores 2 tai, which already includes the value of the seat flower inside it — the series is counted once, not as 2 tai plus another 1 for your 正花 within it. Completing both series means you hold all eight flowers, which upgrades to Eight Flowers (八仙過海) instead.
- •Either series qualifies: the four seasons or the four plants.
- •The 2 tai for the series supersedes the 1-tai seat flower contained in it; a seat flower from the other, incomplete series still scores separately.
- •Some tables additionally count the 正花 inside a 花槓 — confirm the house rule; this calculator counts the series once.
Flower Series (花槓) — FAQ
Do I get 2 tai per series?
Yes — each complete series of four is worth 2 tai. Holding both complete series is all eight flowers, which scores as the single 8-tai Eight Flowers pattern instead.
Does my seat flower inside the series score an extra tai?
Under the convention used here, no — the series is 2 tai total. A matching seat flower from the other series still scores its own 1 tai.
