How Four Concealed Pungs (四暗刻) works
Four concealed pungs in one hand score 5 tai (四暗刻).
The second rung of the concealed-pung ladder: four triplets all assembled by draw, with the fifth set and pair free. It replaces — never stacks with — Three Concealed Pungs, and is itself replaced by Five Concealed Pungs when all five sets qualify. Because concealed-pung hands are usually also concealed hands, it often appears together with 門清 or 門清一摸三 and with All Pungs when the fifth set is also a triplet.
- •All four triplets must be concealed; a single claimed pung drops the hand to at most Three Concealed Pungs.
- •A triplet completed by the winning discard counts as open; won by self-draw it stays concealed.
- •Stacks additively with All Pungs, flushes, and the concealed/self-draw tai.

Is 5 tai the standard value?
Yes — the common Taiwanese 台數表 lists 三暗刻 2, 四暗刻 5, 五暗刻 8. Some house tables round these differently, so confirm locally.
Can the hand still contain a chow?
Yes. Four concealed pungs plus one chow and a pair qualifies; only the five-pung version requires no chows.
