Daisuushii (大四喜)
13 han
Four wind triplets.
How Daisuushii (大四喜) works
The big four winds — triplets of all four wind tiles (east, south, west, and north) in one hand.
Daisuushii is formed when every wind appears as a triplet or kan, which uses all four of the hand's sets and leaves only the pair to be any non-wind tile. The wind sets may be open or concealed. It is one of the highest-tier patterns and is distinguished from its smaller relative, shousuushii, which uses three wind triplets and a wind pair.
Good to know
- •All four wind triplets are required, consuming every set in the hand.
- •The pair must be a non-wind tile, since all four winds are already used as triplets.
- •Open melds count; the wind sets do not need to be concealed.
Daisuushii (大四喜) — FAQ
How is this different from shousuushii?
Shousuushii has three wind triplets plus a wind pair, while daisuushii demands all four winds as complete triplets.
Can the pair be a wind tile?
No. With all four winds locked into triplets, the remaining pair must be a number or dragon tile.
