Shousuushii (小四喜)
13 han
Three wind triplets + a wind pair.
How Shousuushii (小四喜) works
Shousuushii (small four winds) is a yakuman with three wind triplets plus a pair of the fourth wind.
Three of the four winds form pungs or kans while the remaining wind forms the pair, leaving no room for any non-wind set besides the winds occupying three groups and the pair. It works open or closed. Promoting the fourth wind pair into a triplet instead yields daisuushii, the big four winds.
Good to know
- •Three winds are tripled and the fourth wind is paired.
- •Counts as a yakuman regardless of open or closed.
- •Completing the fourth wind as a triplet upgrades it to daisuushii (often a double yakuman).
Shousuushii (小四喜) — FAQ
What separates shousuushii from daisuushii?
Shousuushii has three wind triplets and a wind pair; daisuushii has all four winds as triplets and is typically scored as a double yakuman.
Can the pair be a non-wind tile?
No. The pair must be the fourth wind; otherwise the hand does not form the small four winds pattern.
