How Big Three Winds (三風刻) works
Three pungs (or kongs) of wind tiles — three of the four winds completed as triplets.
The hand holds pungs of three different wind tiles, for example East, South, and West, while the fourth wind is absent from the winds used as triplets. The remaining set and the pair complete the hand. It is the wind counterpart to a dragon-based pattern and falls short of the far higher all-four-winds hand.
Good to know
- •Only three of the four winds are tripled; tripling all four is the much higher Big Four Winds.
- •Each wind pung may also contribute its own seat- or prevailing-wind fan where applicable.
- •The pair and remaining set are free and need not be honors.
