How Lower Four (小於五) works
A hand made only of tiles numbered one through four across the suits.
Every tile used in the sets and pair must rank between 1 and 4, taken from any of the three numbered suits with no honors. Sets are typically 1-2-3 or 2-3-4 chows, or pungs of 1s through 4s. It is the lower-half partner to the upper-range hand using tiles 6 through 9, with the value 5 excluded from both.
Good to know
- •Tiles must be 1-4 only; any 5 or higher breaks the pattern.
- •Honors are excluded since they have no numeric rank.
- •It pairs symmetrically with the upper-four (6-9) restriction.
