Melded Kong (明槓)
1 fan
One declared open kong (formed from a pon plus a drawn fourth tile, or directly from a discard).
Example winning hand
Winning tile: 5z
How Melded Kong (明槓) works
A kong (four identical tiles) completed using a tile claimed from another player, declared openly.
The quad is exposed because one of its tiles came from a discard or was added to an existing exposed pung. It is a basic set fan distinct from the concealed kong, which is formed entirely in hand and scores more. It can combine with kong-pairing fan when a second kong of the other type is present.
Good to know
- •Formed openly with a claimed tile, so the kong is exposed.
- •Scores less than a concealed kong, which is formed entirely in hand.
- •Can pair with a concealed kong for an additional fan.
