How Seat Wind (門風刻) works
A pung (or kong) of the player's own seat wind — the wind matching their position at the table (East, South, West, or North).
The triplet must be of the tile corresponding to the player's current seat. It is a value-honor fan tied to table position rather than tile composition. If the seat wind also happens to be the prevailing/prevalent wind, both wind fan can apply for that set under MCR's rules for double-counting value winds.
Good to know
- •The pung must match the player's seat direction specifically.
- •Distinct from the Prevalent Wind fan, which is based on the round's wind.
- •A pung that is both seat and prevalent wind can score both wind fan.
Seat Wind (門風刻) — FAQ
Is this the same as Prevalent Wind?
No. Seat Wind is tied to your seat position; Prevalent Wind is tied to the current round's wind.
What if my seat wind equals the round wind?
Then the single triplet can count for both the seat-wind and prevalent-wind fan.
