How Short Straight (連六) works
Two consecutive chows in the same suit that overlap into a run of six, such as 1-2-3 and 4-5-6.
Also called a connected run, this is a pair of chows in one suit whose numbers are adjacent so they read as six consecutive tiles, for example 3-4-5 and 6-7-8. The remaining set and pair are unrestricted. It is a smaller relative of the full Pure Straight, which spans all nine numbers.
Good to know
- •Both chows must be the same suit and numerically adjacent with no gap.
- •It is distinct from Pure Straight, which requires the complete 1-9 run.
- •The two runs must not overlap on a shared tile; they cover six different numbers.
