How Great Three Dragons (大三元) works
The hand holds pungs (or kongs) of all three dragons — red, green, and white — at the same time.
Great Three Dragons is one of the premium honor patterns, requiring complete triplets of every dragon tile, leaving two more sets and a pair to be made from anything. It supersedes Small Three Dragons and is built from three dragon pungs. It naturally tends toward All Pungs and honor-heavy hands, with which it stacks.
Good to know
- •All three dragons must be full pungs or kongs; a mere pair of any dragon downgrades it to Small Three Dragons.
- •The remaining two sets and pair can be any suit or honor.
- •Most tables count it as superseding the individual dragon pung tai rather than adding on top of them.
