Sanshoku Doukou (三色同刻)

2 han

Three triplets of the same rank in each of the three suits.

How Sanshoku Doukou (三色同刻) works

Three triplets of the same number, one in each of the three suits — for example, triplets of 5 man, 5 pin, and 5 sou.

Sanshoku Doukou requires identical-rank triplets (or kans) across characters, circles, and bamboo simultaneously, with the remaining set and pair free to be anything. The triplets may be concealed or melded, so it can be built with an open hand. It often appears alongside toitoi or the concealed-triplet yaku since it is itself triplet-based.

Good to know
  • All three triplets must share the exact same rank across all three suits.
  • Open hands qualify; the value does not change between open and closed.
  • Kans of the matching rank also count toward the three sets.

Sanshoku Doukou (三色同刻) — FAQ

How does this differ from sanshoku doujun?

Doukou needs three matching triplets across the suits, while doujun needs three matching sequences. This pattern is the triplet version.

Can the matching sets include a kan?

Yes. A kan is a triplet for set-matching purposes, so a kan of the shared rank still satisfies the requirement.
