How Toitoi (対々和) works
Toitoi (all triplets) is a hand made of four triplets (or kans) plus a pair, containing no runs at all.
Every set must be a pung or kan; chows are not allowed. It works open or closed and keeps its value either way, making it a popular open-hand target. Toitoi naturally overlaps with honitsu, yakuhai, and the concealed-triplet yaku sanankou and suuankou.
Good to know
- •No runs permitted — the whole hand is triplets/kans plus one pair.
- •Retains full value whether open or closed.
- •Frequently combines with sanankou; a fully concealed all-triplets hand can reach suuankou.
Toitoi (対々和) — FAQ
Can toitoi include kans?
Yes. Kans count as triplets for this purpose, so a hand of pungs and kans plus a pair still qualifies.
Is toitoi the same as suuankou?
No. Toitoi just needs all triplets and can be open; suuankou requires all four triplets to be concealed and is a yakuman.
