All Terminals and Honors (混么九)
Every set and pair contains only terminals (1s, 9s) or honor tiles. Mixed terminal/honor hands.
How All Terminals and Honors (混么九) works
A hand in which every set and the pair contains only terminal numbers (1s and 9s) or honor tiles, mixing both.
Each group must be built from terminals or honors, so numbered sets are limited to pungs of 1s or 9s — sequences are impossible since middle tiles are barred. The 'mixed' name distinguishes it from a pure-terminal hand and from All Honors, which uses no numbers at all. The structure guarantees an all-pungs shape and commonly stacks with wind or dragon patterns.
- •Only the numbers 1 and 9 of the suits are allowed; any 2–8 tile breaks the pattern.
- •Dropping all numbered tiles in favor of honors turns it into the higher All Honors.
- •The hand is necessarily All Pungs because no qualifying sequence can be formed.
All Terminals and Honors (混么九) — FAQ
Why can't this hand have any chows?
A chow needs three consecutive numbers, which would require a middle tile (2–8); those are forbidden, so only terminal and honor pungs remain.
How does it relate to All Honors?
All Terminals and Honors mixes terminal numbers with honors, while All Honors uses honors exclusively and scores higher.
