Round Wind (圈風)

1 faan

A pung of the prevailing round wind. The round wind depends on which round of play is current.

Example winning hand
Winning tile: 9m

How Round Wind (圈風) works

A pung (or kong) of the wind tile matching the current prevailing round, for example an East triplet during the East round.

The prevailing wind rotates through East, South, West, and North as the game progresses through rounds. Holding three or four of the round's wind tile earns this faan. It is independent of, and can be earned alongside, a pung of your own seat wind.

Good to know
  • A player whose seat wind equals the round wind can score both the round-wind and seat-wind faan from the same triplet (a 'double wind').
  • Only a triplet or kong counts; a lone round-wind tile or a pair of them does not score here.
  • Which wind is 'round' depends on the table's current round, not on the player's seat.

Round Wind (圈風) — FAQ

Do I score this just for holding the round wind in my hand?

No. You need a completed pung or kong of that wind; a pair or single tile earns nothing for this pattern.

What if my seat wind is also the round wind?

A single triplet then satisfies both the seat-wind and round-wind conditions, and each is counted separately.
