Self Draw (自摸)
1 faan
Winning by drawing the winning tile yourself rather than claiming a discard.
Example winning hand
Winning tile: 5p
How Self Draw (自摸) works
Winning by drawing the final required tile yourself from the wall, rather than claiming a tile discarded by another player.
This faan is awarded purely for the manner of winning: the completing tile comes off the wall on your own draw. It applies regardless of the hand's composition and is one of the most commonly earned winning-condition bonuses. When combined with a fully concealed hand it contributes to the larger Fully Concealed (self-drawn) award.
Good to know
- •Earned for any self-drawn win, even on a hand with exposed melds.
- •Distinct from Fully Concealed Hand, which additionally requires that no tiles were claimed during the hand.
- •A replacement-tile win after a kong (Kong on Kong) still counts as a self-draw and earns this bonus in addition to the Kong on Kong award.
Self Draw (自摸) — FAQ
Does self-draw require a concealed hand?
No. Any win on a tile you drew yourself qualifies, including hands with exposed pungs or chows.
Is winning on a discard ever a self-draw?
No. Claiming another player's discard to complete your hand is a discard win and does not earn this bonus.
