Robbing the Kong (搶槓和)
8 fan
Winning by claiming a tile that another player added to make a kong.
Example winning hand
Winning tile: 5p
How Robbing the Kong (搶槓和) works
Winning on the very tile another player adds to an exposed pung to promote it into a kong.
When an opponent extends an existing melded pung into a kong by adding the fourth tile, a player waiting on that exact tile may claim it to complete their hand. The win is treated as if won on a discard rather than self-drawn. This applies to the promotion of a pung to a kong; it does not apply to a concealed kong formed all at once.
Good to know
- •Only the tile added to an existing exposed pung can be robbed.
- •It counts as a discard-based win for the purpose of other awards.
- •It cannot be taken from a fully concealed kong declared in one move.
