Basic Win (基本胡)
The basic Sichuan winning hand — four pungs (or kongs) plus a pair. Required structure: Sichuan disallows chows entirely.
How Basic Win (基本胡) works
A standard winning hand of four sets and a pair that meets no additional special scoring pattern.
Basic Win is the baseline for any completed hand—four groups (runs, triplets, or kongs) plus a pair—that satisfies the win condition without qualifying for a richer pattern. It represents the minimum credited for a legal win and other fan are added on top when their conditions are met. Even a Basic Win must use only number suits and keep one suit voided, as required of every Sichuan hand.
- •It serves as the floor for a valid win; specialized patterns layer additional fan over it.
- •A hand qualifying for stronger structures like All Pungs or Seven Pairs is scored by those instead of staying merely basic.
- •Like all Sichuan hands it has no honor tiles and obeys the voided-suit requirement.
Basic Win (基本胡) — FAQ
When does a hand count only as a Basic Win?
When it forms a legal four-sets-and-a-pair hand but matches none of the special patterns that would otherwise apply.
Does a Basic Win still need a voided suit?
Yes. Every Sichuan winning hand, including the most basic, must use only two suits because one suit is voided.
