Seven Pairs (七对)
Seven Pairs — seven distinct pairs in the hand. A common Sichuan winning structure.
How Seven Pairs (七对) works
A special winning shape made of seven distinct pairs instead of the usual four sets and a pair.
Seven Pairs is completed when all of a player's concealed tiles form exactly seven pairs, bypassing the normal run-and-triplet structure. Every tile must be held concealed, since melding would prevent forming the pairs. It uses only the three number suits and must respect the voided-suit rule, so the seven pairs are spread across just two suits.
- •The hand is always concealed; once tiles are melded the seven-pair shape cannot be assembled.
- •If one pair becomes four identical tiles, the hand upgrades to the stronger Dragon Seven Pairs.
- •No honor tiles are used, and all pairs come from two suits because one suit must be voided.
Seven Pairs (七对) — FAQ
Does Seven Pairs combine with All Pungs?
No. Seven Pairs is its own structure scored on pairs, while All Pungs is scored on triplets, so they are mutually exclusive.
Can I claim a discard to complete Seven Pairs?
You can win on a discard that forms your final pair, but the pairs must otherwise all be in your concealed hand.
