How Flower of Seat (花牌) works

Drawing the flower or season tile that matches your own seat position scores a flower bonus tai.

Flower and season tiles are bonus tiles set aside when drawn and replaced from the wall; the flower whose number matches your seat order (1 for East, 2 for South, and so on) earns this seat-flower tai. Both the matching flower and the matching season can apply, and they score on top of the hand's other tai. Flowers are independent of hand structure and simply add to the count.

Good to know
  • Only the flower or season matching your seat number gives this particular tai; other flowers may score separately as plain flowers.
  • Drawing a flower triggers a replacement draw from the wall, which can itself lead to a self-drawn bonus.
  • Flower tai accumulate independently and do not interact with the suit or set composition of the hand.

Flower of Seat (花牌) — FAQ

Which flower matches my seat?

Flowers and seasons are numbered, and the one matching your seat order — East is 1, South 2, West 3, North 4 — is your seat flower.

Do non-matching flowers count for anything?

Yes, most tables award a smaller bonus for each flower you hold; only the seat-matching flower earns this specific seat-flower tai.
