How Round Wind Pung (圈風) works
A pung or kong of the prevailing round wind — the wind that governs the current round of play (e.g. East in the East round).
Every player shares the same round wind, set by which round the game is in, and a triplet of that wind tile earns this tai. If a player's seat wind happens to match the round wind, one triplet of that tile can satisfy both wind tai simultaneously. Like other honor pungs, it stacks with structural patterns such as All Pungs.
Good to know
- •The qualifying wind changes as the game advances through the East, South, West, and North rounds.
- •A single triplet matching both your seat and the round can earn both wind tai.
- •Winds that are neither the round wind nor your seat wind are valueless and score nothing.
Round Wind Pung (圈風) — FAQ
Is the round wind the same for everyone?
Yes. Unlike the seat wind, the round wind is shared by all players and depends only on which round the game is currently in.
Does an exposed round-wind pung still count?
Yes. A round wind triplet earns its tai whether it is concealed or melded from a claimed discard.
